Mendel
A smaller project by Roberto de la Mota, an Argentine winemaker who comes from a renowned line of winemakers. A visit to Mendel winery is certainly memorable for its small size and its big reds that show de la Mota’s classic style and usually focus on his preferred grape – Malbec.
A visit to Mendoza is often a very personalized one as their tourism department consists of no more than your guide taking you around the winery and telling you the story of Roberto and of Argentine winemaking. You finish up in the sunny tasting room where you can try their different lines of wine and can buy the top bottles there too.
The Unus blend is a long-standing favorite, however now it has been trumped by the top wine de la Mota produces: Finca Remota, a powerful Malbec from the Uco Valley. The Semillon is worth seeking out too.
