Travelling to Chile. Checklist with requirements to enter Chile for all non-resident foreign travellers visiting Chile for tourism

Are you planning on travelling to Chile any time soon?
Check out the latest travel requirements!

These are the requirements for all non-resident foreign travellers, as of December 2021:

Fill the ‘Affidavit of Travellers‘ form electronically and up to 48 hours before boarding (if you are coming by air)

Must have the Chilean Mobility Pass, a certificate of vaccination against coronavirus. Vaccines received abroad must have been previously validated in Chile to obtain it

Present a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within 72 hours of travelling (children under the age of 2 are exempt)

Have medical insurance with comprehensive cover for COVID-19. The minimum amount of coverage for health benefits must be US$30,000

Note: You must attach the negative PCR result and travel medical insurance in the Affidavit of Travellers electronic form

From 1 January 2022, Chile is planning to only accept vaccination certificates with three vaccines. Land borders remain closed for now.

Other considerations

Non-resident foreign travellers who present proof of full vaccination status validated by the Ministry of Health will have to get a PCR test upon entering Chile at the arrival airport. Until they receive the negative result of this test, they must comply with self-isolation at an address reported in the Affidavit of Travellers. The PCR test usually takes 3 – 6 hours to come back.

Non-resident foreign adults who haven’t received a complete course of a vaccine validated by the Ministry of Health, will have to get a PCR test upon entering Chile and must self-isolate for 7 days, counted from the sanitary control at the point of entry into the country.

Non-resident foreign travellers who have spent the last 14 days in any of the following African countries cannot enter Chile, regardless of their vaccination status: South Africa, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Botswana, Lesotho, Eswatini, Mozambique.

Non-resident foreign travellers under the age of 6 who do not qualify as fully vaccinated can enter Chile, without the need for a Chilean Mobility Pass.

It is obligatory to wear a mask in all public places in Chile.
