Inspired by the time time he spent in South Africa’s Swartland, Leo Erazo has been on a mission to show the stellar quality of Itata’s old bush vines and this Cinsault reveals the finesse that Itata wines can have. Elegant, floral and mineral with fine-grained tannins and a fresh, lasting finish. One of my favourite Chilean Cinsaults.
More about the winery
A los Viñateros Bravos is a project by Chilean winemaker Leo Erazo (of Rogue Vine, Altos Las Hormigas) in which he works with small growers in Itata. It’s a noble ambition: to make wines that celebrate and help finance the small growers which are rapidly disappearing in this region of old vines and ancestral winemaking techniques. But, fortunately, under the hand of Leo Erazo, the wines are, in general, excellent. A series of Cinsault, País and Moscatel.
