I am beyond thrilled to share that I have been shortlisted as IWSC’s Wine Communicator of the Year 2023!
It is with enormous pride I share this news, as the nomination and shortlisting has largely come from my work with The South America Wine Guide. So thank you all for being part of this together!
The judging panel said, “Our judges really admired the tenacity and passion which Amanda shows, self-publishing her critically acclaimed book, South America Wine Guide. They felt she really embodied the international ethos of the IWSC, speaking across both trade and consumer forums to engage and fully share the story of wines from South America, and beyond. Highlighting how the greatest journalists can both report and investigate but also challenge and stand up for the industry they write about.”
It’s an enormous honour to be shortlisted, and among such an esteemed selection of international wine communicators, for this annual international award that is given to “an individual who is making an exceptional contribution towards promoting wine to a consumer audience“.
I am shortlisted alongside Jane Anson – a renowned Bordeaux expert and author; Mariano Braga – an Argentine multimedia communicator, twice shortlisted before; Rob Buckhaven – a columnist and presenter in the UK; and Natalie Wang – founder of VinoJoy focused on the Chinese wine market.
I recommend checking out all of their work as Jane, Mariano, Rob and Natalie certainly embody the global future of wine communication.
The Trophy will be announced on the 29th September, and I certainly wish everyone the best of luck.
Previous winners of this award include Elaine Chukan Brown, Madeline Puckette, Tom Cannavan, Joe Fattorini, Joe Wadsack, Tyson Stelzer, Jane Parkinson and Jancis Robinson MW.
