Marcelo Pelleriti Wines
Marcelo Pelleriti Wines is the personal label of the renowned Argentine winemaker, Marcelo Pelleriti. The winery and vineyards are based in the Uco Valley, Mendoza, where Pelleriti has been making wine since 1994.
About the winery & winemaker
Born in Mendoza, Pelleriti has been making wine since he was a young child – when he would make vino patero (foot-trodden wine) with his grandfather in the family farm. His career as a professional winemaker has been defined by his position as Head Winemaker at Bodega Monteviejo in the Uco Valley and also making wines in Bordeaux, France.
With over 30 vintages of experience between Argentina and France, Pelleriti became the first Latin American winemaker to obtain 100 Robert Parker points.
Marcelo Pelleriti Wines emerged as a private enterprise whereby Pelleriti could share his vision and interpretation of his native terroir with the world and inspired by the qualities of the wines that had left a mark on him along the way.
After many years making wines internationally, he decided to return to his origin: the place where he made his first wine back in 1994, a 110-year-old farm he owns in La Consulta, Tunuyán, to express the value of that terroir. The family of wines in Marcelo Pelleriti Wines now extend to vineyards in Altamira as well as other small grower lots in the Uco Valley.
A passionate musician, Pelleriti also makes several wines with some of Argentina’s best-known musicians. Each year Pelleriti organises a large music festival in the vineyards of Uco Valley where a wine tasting with Marcelo Pelleriti Wines, Bodega Monteviejo and many of the limited edition labels with musicians are poured.
About the vineyards
Marcelo Pelleriti Wines are all produced in the Uco Valley from different vineyards of alluvional origin at the foothills of the Andes.
La Consulta vineyard
Pelleriti’s oldest vineyard was planted in 1907 in La Consulta, where he has eight hectares of Cabernet Franc and Malbec vines. At 930m altitude, the vineyard is a silty-loam with gravel in the subsoil and calcareous deposits.
Altamira vineyard
The Altamira vineyard spans 13 hectares and is located at an altitude of 1036m. The vineyard is of alluvial origin with stoney soils and calcareous deposits. There are several different varieties in the vineyard, which was planted in 2005.
