El Legado
Bernardo Marzuca was born in Carmelo and in his formative years spent time running between the vines and breathing in the smell of recently made wine in his father’s vineyard and winery. His family lost the vineyard in the 80s because of the crisis, however he harboured a desire to bring back the family legacy – something which he could achieve in 2007 when he founded El Legado vineyard and winery.
An artisanal project, with less than a hectare of wines, El Legado is a small in size but big in style. The perfumed Syrah is a highlight, and one of the few single variety syrah in urugauay, which is joined by Tannat and their top blend of both varieties.
A visit to the family winery is an intimate and memorable occasion as Bernardo or his wife or children receive you in their winery as a long lost friend and sit down to break bread with you over their wines and a picada.
