Gimenez Mendez
Coming from two Uruguayan wine families, Gimenez Mendez winery is a big family project with a production of 700,000 bottles coming from their 100 hectares of vineyards in southern Uruguay. The majority of their production is in Las Brujas.
Tannat is, of course, an important variety for Gimenez Mendez however they also believe in the importance of working with other varieties and have a good following for their Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon but are also playing with Arinarnoa, Petit Verdot and Touriga Nacional.
You can, in fact, taste all the varieties they have planted in Gimenez Mendez in just one wine – Puzzle (or Enigma locally). This premium wine has 15 different varieties in the blend: Tannat, Chenin, Cabernet Franc, Marselán, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Petit Verdot, Sauvignon Blanc, Arinarnoa, Cabernet Sauvignon, Viognier, Merlot, Syrah, Alicante Bouchet, and Pinot Meunier.
