The fourth generation are running the Varela Zarranz winery since their Basque ancestors settled here over a century ago. With 110 hectares in the Canelones region, the original winery was founded in 1888 and has been producing wine since then.
The winery is a historical one in Uruguay and the majority of their production is sold domestically.
