Amanecer Andino winery is the passion project of Alfredo González who started making wine as a hobby ten years ago in the Quebrada de Humahuaca. The small family-run enterprise is located a few kilometres away from Purmamarca, and can be visited by walking across a footbridge which crosses the Río Grande.
You can visit for a tasting of their wines and their own homemade charcuterie.
Bodega Fernando Dupont is the winery of one of the true pioneers of the winemaking industry in Quebrada de Humahuaca. The Fernando Dupont winery is the largest producer in this region of Jujuy making some 23,000 litres per year.
Winemaker Marcos Etchart from San Pedro de Yacochuya has been involved in this high altitude wine production since the beginning and you can taste the wines at Bodega Fernando Dupont’s wooden tasting room which is situated 2,400m above sea level. You can tour the winery too and linger a bit longer with wines paired with local charcuterie and fresh goats’ cheese.
Viñas del Perchel winery is a family-run business situated at an altitude of 2,650 metres above sea level in Jujuy’s Quebrada de Humahuaca wine region. Planting vineyards in such a remote location has resulted in an interesting portfolio of wines which includes Runa, an intense Malbec and Syrah blend as well as a single-variety Tannat called Cactus.
During your visit to the winery, look out for the colourful mural of a grape picker reaching for the stars. The winery is planning on building a new bodega further up the mountain in the near future in order to receive more tourists.
Miraluna winery and vineyards is a producer of red wines and has 13,500 vines of Malbec and 1,000 vines of Merlot planted in its vineyards in the region of Cachi in Salta’s Calchaquí Valley. Miraluna winery’s portfolio exclusively focuses on single varietals of Malbec, Malbec Reserve and Merlot.
The winery organises a range of interesting cultural events throughout the year including fruit and vegetable picking in the summer and the Pachamama Festival in August. You can also take some time to put your feet up and relax in one of the winery’s cabañas set amongst the vineyards.
