About Riveras del Chillán winery
After over 80 years of heritage as a family winery in Itata, Riveras de Chillán was born as a new enterprise under the third generation. Gonzalo Chandía Tolosa has some 63 hectares of his own vines and picks the crème de la crème to make his wines.
About the Riveras del Chillán vineyards
Located in the traditional region of Chillán in inland Itata, the name Chillán means ‘the place with the sun’ in the native Mapuche language which reflects its slightly warmer, sunnier microclimate. Because of the warmer temperatures here, red wine grapes particularly thrive and also suit the typical river terraces found near to the Chillán river.
