Massoc Frères winery was established in 2015 by renowned Chilean winemaker François Massoc, his wife Noëlle and his brother Jean-Paul. This family winery has at its heart the old vines and growers of Itata and Bio Bio, focused entirely on working with small growers who care for centenarian vineyards.

About Massoc Frères winery

Founded in 2015, Massoc Frères as a project has always been guided by the family’s affection for their Chilean and French roots, their faith in the Itata and Bio Bio valleys, and their desire to produce excellent wines from the old vines of southern Chile.

In 2017, the family bought an old winery located on the slopes of Cerro Cayumanqui, in the municipality of Quillón in Itata and restored it to adapt it to their small-scale winemaking style. All the Massoc Frères wines are made, aged and bottled on the estate.

Massoc Frères is part of the Chileno Sur association in southern Chile.

About the Massoc Frères vineyards

Massoc Frères works closely with two small grape growers in the Itata Valley. The grapes for its wine production come from an old vineyard in the Itata-Ñuble Valley planted with País and Moscatel grapes and a vineyard in the Itata-Bio Bio Valley planted with Cinsault and País grapes.

L’ASSEMBLAGE

L’Assemblage is vinified with whole berries and aged for 12 months in French oak barrels and stainless steel vats. It is a fresh, everyday red wine from País grapes. L’Assemblage refers to being a blend of grapes from two select parcels in the vineyard.

LE MOSCATEL

Le Moscatel is made from Moscatel grapes and is aged on its lees for 10 months. Fermented to complete dryness, Le Moscatel is a fresh and aromatic wine.

LE ROSE

Le Rose is made from Cinsault grapes, vinified in stainless steel tanks, and aged on its lees for 10 months.

GRAND PAÍS

This is Massoc Frères premium wine made from País grapes. It is vinified with whole berries, undergoes a slow fermentation and is aged in French oak barrels for 18 months. This wine stands out for its finesse, depth and structure.

Massoc Frères also make an interesting line up of fortified wines and spirits made from wine grapes, including a mountain herb licor made from Moscatel de Alejandría; a brandy made from old País vines and aged in raulí pipas; and an aged red fortified wine made from a field blend of old vines.
