Bemberg Estate Wines is the luxury winery and portfolio of the Bemberg family in Argentina, focused on single terroir wines from around their best estates in Argentina. The winery is in Gualtallary in the Uco Valley.

About Bemberg Estate Wines

When the Bemberg family bought the Peñaflor group of wineries in 2011, winemaker Daniel Pi began making a few wines especially for the family. From their 3,500 hectares of vineyards around the country, Pi would select the very best plots to make a handful of vinous gems. It is still this concept that is at the heart of this fine wine endeavour — showcasing their most distinctive vineyards and terroir expressions.

The stunning boutique winery is set within their estate in Gualtallary, but a taste through Bemberg is a terroir tour of Argentina: four Malbecs from Gualtallary, La Consulta, Pedernal and Chañar Punco; Cabernet Sauvignon from Cafayate; and a Chardonnay and a very classy Bordeaux-blend from Gualtallary. These Bemberg wines are the crème de la crème of one of Argentina’s leading wine families.

This is the main estate where the Bemberg winery is located, in the heart of Gualtallary at 1,250 m.a.s.l.. This vineyard is on an alluvial fan built up by streams from Las Tunas River and has deep sandy soils. Finca El Tomillo produces Malbec and Chardonnay.

FINCA EL MILAGRO

Located in Los Arboles in Tunuyán in the Uco Valley, Finca Las Piedras stands at 1,300 m.a.s.l.. The sandy-loam soils are comprised of 3% clay, 90% sand and 7% silt and yield a powerfully mineral Pinot Noir.

FINCA LOS CHAÑARES

Finca Los Chañares is located in Chañar Punco in Catamarca in Northern Argentina and stands at 1,950 m.a.s.l. Its soils are rich in lime and minerals and deliver a Malbec that stands out for its unique typicity: meaty, dark and brooding.

FINCA LA YESCA

Finca La Yesca is located in the Pedernal Valley in San Juan, one of the highest altitude of the region at 1,400 m.a.s.l.. The vineyard is characterized by its rocky soils and a big range of temperatures.

FINCA LAS MERCEDES

Finca Las Mercedes is in Cafayate Valley in Salta in northern Argentina, at 1,650 m.a.s.l.. The climate is characterized by sunny mornings, warm, mild afternoons and a wide temperature range and the soils are deep and sandy, originated from metamorphic and igneous graphite-type rocks. Finca Las Mercedes delivers an intense and peppery Cabernet Sauvignon.

Bemberg wines

All of the Bemberg wines are focused on microterroir wines – usually of a single variety and a single vineyard, or terroir – with the exception of their very top wine, Pionero, which is a red Bordeaux blend of their best sites and expressions that year.

La Linterna is the main portfolio which is focused on microterroir wines and includes several Malbecs from different regions (from Gualtallary, Pedernal, La Consulta and Chañar Punco), as well as Cabernet Sauvignon (from Cafayate), Pinot Noir (from Los Arboles) and Chardonnay (from Gualtallary). They are all show different terroir characteristics but are typically ageworthy wines which can cellar well for decades.

Daniel Pi uses a combination of foudres, oak barrels and cement tanks for vinification of the Bemberg Estate Wines.
