Valduga

Valduga winery is an impressive family operation that has blossomed into several wine and tourism endeavours. The Valduga family story began like many other in Vale dos Vinhedos, a family of Italian immigrants planted vines and started making wine. However son Joçao recognised that the traditional pergola system of vineyards was not the future for quality winemaking, and so he sent his parents (who didn’t agree on changing the vineyards) on holiday for two weeks and secretly replanted all the vines in VSP form. When Dad came home to a completely different vineyard, he was not best pleased – that is until the awards started rolling in for the wines…

Since then the Valduga family hasn’t looked back, and now they are one of Brazil’s top wineries for sparkling and fine wines, as well as a mini-empire in the wine region with wine hotels, restaurants, wine cosmetics and a popular juice and jelly production. A visit to this handsome winery includes a tractor ride around the beautiful vineyards.
