Understandably hurt yet far from undeterred by their World Cup final defeat last year, Argentina have high hopes for the Copa America 2015, which is taking place in neighbouring Chile. Although many football fans have made the journey across the border, several are staying put and choosing to watch the tournament in a bar, pub, or club. This is the busiest bar in the city when it comes to watching football. People will be quietly crammed inside, but with screens on every wall you should be able to see all of the action. After the game, most will stick around and drink beers for several hours, taking advantage of the outdoor seats.

Located in the 6ta, this expat bar was full of blue and white shirts for Argentina’s opening match against Paraguay and will no doubt be the same as the tournament progresses. Drink promotions and nacho plates are available, which will have you shouting “Vamos Argentina” in no time.
Maipu 131, La 6ta, Mendoza
Closer to the city centre just three blocks from the Plaza Independcia you’ll find The Liverpool, a pub dedicated to the Beatles, which has been decorated with memorabilia. It might not be as lively here, but you can expect a friendly and relaxed atmosphere while watching the football.

On the busy and bustling Avenue Aristides, William Brown is yet another Irish bar that will also play host to its fair share of football fans during Copa America. Get there from 7-9pm for Happy Hour(s) and choose from one of several beers on tap.

If you’d like to sip on something a little bit more refined than Argentina’s staple beer of Quilmes, go to Jerome. This spacious bar, which has plenty of room to see the screens, serves its own carefully crafted beer brewed almost 2,000 metres above sea level in Potrerillos.

Although William Brown and Jerome are two choice locations, they are situated on the busiest bar street in Mendoza. So, you might be best off wandering down the road near game time and choosing somewhere with the most people or best atmosphere.
Sarmiento Street
If Argentina win, which is a distinct possibility with Lionel Messi leading the line, scores of jubilant fans will head to Sarmiento Street to celebrate. Several bars and restaurants flank this pedestrianized walkway, which has San Martín Avenue at one end and Plaza Independencia at the other.
