Sur Chileno is an association of wineries that all work in southern Chile and produce wines with a similar terroir focus, artisanal production and sustainable philosophy. The association includes small natural wine producers using old vines including Roberto Henríquez and Tinto de Rulo to boutique producers with international varieties and pioneering new regions including Pandolfi Price and Clos des Fous. Producers are based in Maule, Itata, Bio Bio or Malleco.
Sur Chileno was founded in 2020 and is an association of independent producers in southern Chile (Maule, Itata, Bio Bio and Malleco) initiated by CORFO Ñuble to work together to promote the distinctive identity of the south and share research and sustainability initiatives.
Founding wineries include:
Massoc Frères. A family winery started in 2015 in Itata working with old vines there.
Roberto Henríquez. Natural winemaker making old vine wines from Bio Bio and Itata.
Clos des Fous. Terroir focused project isolating special vineyards around Chile with a focus in Malleco.
Pandolfi Price. Family winery in Itata with a focus on premium Chardonnay and other international varieties.
Riveras del Chillán. Winery in Itata with 65 hectares of vines and diverse porfolio.

Riveras de Chillán winery is set on the riverbanks of the Chillán river in Itata and represents the old vines but new story of the Chandía Tolosa family.
After over 80 years of heritage as a family winery in Itata, Riveras de Chillán was born as a new enterprise under the third generation. Gonzalo Chandía Tolosa has some 63 hectares of his own vines and picks the crème de la crème to make his wines.
Riveras del Chillán is part of the Chileno Sur association in southern Chile.
Lomas de Llahuén is in the heart of Portezuela and was founded in 1986 by brothers Francisco and Gustavo Riffo who have fought tooth and nail to bring the heritage of their local Pipeño wines back into the limelight.
Lomas de Llahuén is an (as of yet!) undiscovered gem in Itata. Their human scale, family vineyard and winery is worth hunting for while in Itata.
Lomas de Llahuén was founded over 35 years ago as a small project in order to make local wines and revalue the traditional varieties and old vines of Itata. Brothers Francisco and Gustavo Riffo started out making just 600 litres of wine using the native raulí wood pipas for fermentation and selling the wines by the glass damajuana.
Over the years, the family have built up their reputation and resources in order to become a boutique winery working with over 20 hectares of vineyards and now incorporating the younger generation of the family.
Lomas de Llahuén is part of the Chileno Sur association in southern Chile.
One of the larger estate wineries in Itata, Berta Family Wines is a family-owned winery and was established in 1997. With their own vineyard estate of 87 hectares on the banks of the River Ñuble, Berta makes a wide range of varieties from Malbec to Riesling. The main focus though is mainly on Pinot Noir, Merlot, Moscatel and Chardonnay.
Berta was founded in 1997 by Don Pedro Pablo Errázuriz Ossa. A successful businessman, Don Pedro decided to start in the wine industry looking to combine his business skills with his passion for architecture, arts, construction, and innovation.
The winery is focused on growing Pinot Noir, Malbec, Cinsault, Moscatel and Riesling, and takes advantage of the distinctive climate and character that Itata provides.
Berta is part of the Chileno Sur association in southern Chile.
