Bodega Iaccarini was the first winery to be established in Las Paredes, San Rafael, in 1903. Today it is owned by the Mendez Collado family, who started a renovation project in 2009 to bring the historic Iaccarini winery back to life. Via Blanca and Cavas Don Nicasio are the main lines in the winery.
San Rafael Wineries
The Alfredo Roca winery is now run by fourth generation winemaker Alejandro Roca and his sisters Carolina and Graciela. Known for their understated wines, you can visit the historic Alfredo Roca winery – built in 1905 – and the tasting room for a free tour and wine tasting in San Rafael to explore the range.
Funckenhausen winery and vineyards was founded by Kurt Heinlein from Germany in a virgin terroir of San Rafael, in the region of 25 de Mayo. Their 20-hectare vineyard is one of the highest altitude vineyards in San Rafael at 850m, where they produce Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Pinot Noir and Syrah. Jimena Lopez is the winemaker.
In San Rafael, Argana winery is a boutique producer with 20 hectares of vines. The Argana wines are mainly focused on red wine production, sometimes as single varieties and sometimes blends (including an interesting non-vintage blend without any oak).
Argana wines are mainly sold locally, but you can find them in limited editions in Europe, the US and Brazil too.
