Contra Corriente winery and their small vineyard started off as three hectares of Riesling, Gewürstraminer, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir planted in 2014 and 2015, and will soon be expanding to six hectares with plans for a three-story biodynamic winery build into the hillsides in the pipeline too.
Based in the Trevelin valley in Chubut, the winery is the passion project of Rance Rathie and Travis Smith who fell in love with the region and its fly fishing. The winery and vineyard is in fact located in the grounds of their excellent fishing lodge and retreat, where clients can taste their cool climate wines and get bottles sent home.
