Casa Donoso is part of the Donoso group which has several different brands of wines: Domaine Oriental, Las Casas de Vaquería, Palmira, San Vicente and Doña Lucia. All based in Maule, there is a diverse portfolio of wines between the different brand including Chile’s first single-variety Romano (or César Noir). Cucha Cucha is owned by a forestry company, Arauco, which has a large wood pulp production in Itata. The company also own vineyards in Itata which is where their Cucha Cucha wines, first launched in 2016, come from. Cucha Cucha makes País, Cinsault, Moscatel and red blends. The Cucha Cucha winery is in construction.
The wine story of Cremaschi Furlotti starts in Italy, goes via Argentina, before arriving in Chile. Italian immigrants in Mendoza created two wine dynasties – the Cremaschi and Furlotti wineries. A descendant of both families, Pablo Cremaschi started his own wine business in Chile in 1975. Today Cremaschi Furlotti winery has 400 hectares of vines in Loncomilla, Maule, and makes a wide range of red and white wines (including less common varieties such as Zinfandel and Nebbiolo).
The Cousiño Macul winery is one of Chile’s most historic. On the outskirts of Santiago city in Macul, Alto Maipo, the Cousiño family purchased their vineyard in 1856 and brought some of the first French grape varieties into Chile.
Today Cousiño Macul winery is open to visits and gives you a chance to step into one of Chile’s oldest wineries and taste their wide range of wines from Maipo, including their top Lota Cabernet Sauvignon.
