Rooted in the cooler climate and limestone-rich soils of Pedernal valley, Pyros is all about characterful reds from this grand cru of San Juan. Owned by the Pons family (see Salentein) since 2008, Pyros is now under the hand of one of Argentina’s most promising young female winemakers, Paula González, who works closely with consultant winemaker Paul Hobbs. The line up includes varietal Malbec, Syrah and Chardonnay wines as well as their Malbec-Syrah- Cabernet Sauvignon Special Blend. The top highlights are the Single Vineyard Malbec and the Limestone Hill Malbec, which comes from a special plot of their most calcareous-rich soils. The Pedernal terroir offers great concentration, tension and acidity which makes the Pyros wines age-worthy indeed
