Argentine Valeria Gamper takes the Best Sommelier of the Americas 2022 trophy!

After a tense final in Santiago, Chile, the Argentine sommelier Valeria Gamper was awarded Best Sommelier of the Americas 2022! Competing with fellow Argentina (and 2nd place in the last final in 2018) Martin Bruno and Canadian Hugo Duchesne, Valeria was crowned on Saturday afternoon after a three day competition which saw tough tastings and exams with all the best sommeliers from around the Americas.

Also in the final six were Brazilian Dustin Chabert and two candidates from the US, Mark Guillaudeu and Dustin Chabert.

Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Valeria has been working as a sommelier for several years and came second in Argentina’s Best Sommelier competition in 2012, 2017 and came first in 2019. In 2018 she came fourth in the Best Sommelier of the Americas competition hosted in Canada.
